Tokyo Olympics from four perspectives: 4. Tokyo Metropolitan Government

The next perspective is from the Tokyo Metropolitan Government.

The city of Tokyo is very excited about the Tokyo Olympics for various reasons. First, it will be a great opportunity to show Japan (or Tokyo, specifically) to the world. We are very proud of our public transportation (especially trains), and some tourists from foreign countries said our multi-language speaking vending machines were unique. Also, we are planning to create the medals by collecting precious metal from used smartphones. Second, we are expecting positive economic effects by hosting the Olympics. With more people visiting, there will be more consumption and employment. It will also be a great chance to dispel the reputational damage of Fukushima. And finally, we are looking forward for more people to enjoy sports. Many people lack exercise these days, so it would be a great opportunity for people to get interested in sports and actually start playing them.

results of my survey

I got 12 answers to my survey, and the results are as below. _____________________________ Surprisingly, only a single person was not supporting Tokyo for the 2020 Olympics host city. Since most of the people who answered the survey lived in Tokyo and other neighboring prefectures, I predicted that less people support it because there has been many negative voices on the news. Instead, there are 4 people for "neither", and reasons for this, they commented that they "don't really care", or "will not have the advantages that claimed so enthusiastically during the bidding process", etc. This result was surprising too, because my prediction was that answers will concentrate  on "soaring budgets". Instead, the issue with the new National Stadium came in first. This could be because there was recent news that a man working at the site committed suicide from overwork.
